"The 2017 Barolo Cicala is a powerful, deep wine. Black cherry, menthol, tobacco, scorched earth, chocolate and searing tannins are some of the signatures. The Cicala has plenty of depth, but my instincts say it will mature before the tannins soften. Ruby red color with light purple hues, it expresses all the typicality of Barbera, especially in its fresh and pleasant fruitiness. Barbera is ideal for many tables rich in cured meats and robiole, but also with more elaborate foods, in particular grilled meat and aged cheeses. Its evolutionary possibilities are excellent; the temperature must be around 18 degrees, use large round glasses.
