Bougainville VSOP Rum - Oxenham
Complex and elegant rum with notes of dried fruit, toasted nuts and caramel. On the palate it is full and enveloping with hints of demerara, coffee, tobacco and a slightly citrusy finish. A rum to be enjoyed neat or with ice, perfect accompanied by dark chocolate or a good cigar.
Oxenham, founded in 2010, is one of the smallest and most qualitative Rum distilleries in Mauritius. The company produces different types of rum, both from molasses and sugar cane juice, distilling in pot stills and single column stills. The rums made from sugar cane juice are bottled under the name of Oaks & Ames. At the moment this line is limited to unaged rum only but in the next few years a version refined in ex-sherry barrels will also be released. Traditional rums, made from molasses, are bottled under the name Rum Bougainville, in honor of the French explorer Luis Antoine de Bougainville who introduced sugar cane cultivation on the island in 1768. Oxenham rums are 100% produced in Mauritius starting from locally grown sugar cane and refined in the warm tropical climate of the African island.
