On the nose, this VSOP is subtle and delicate, slowly revealing itself during tasting. Initially a concentration of fresh fruit, particularly pear, it quickly evolves towards floral notes and then dry hay. Finally, pastry notes gradually take over. This Armagnac is perfectly balanced, with a silky attack, a medium-full palate and an unexpected length for a spirit aged only 6 years.
Halfway between the city of Bordeaux and the Pyrenees mountains, in the commune of Panjas, in one of the departments dedicated to the production of Armagnac, lies the beautiful hill known as 'Le Louvre'. This gentle rocky slope leads to a sandy plateau with a mild climate and the best exposure to the sun. In this small plot of land, the conditions for the grape varieties used in the production of Armagnac, ugni blanc and baco blanc, are ideal. Distillation takes place using a mobile still, dating back to the 1960s, which is moved from farm to farm to make each producer's armagnac. For more than a century, the armagnacs produced from the vineyards of La Licorne have won awards at world exhibitions and international fairs. Recognition of the extraordinary work of the founders and an award for the unique character of Armagnac. The name La Licorne, comes from the two unicorn-shaped rings hanging in the winery's historic stables, now used as a cellar for ageing Armagnac.
