The body is bright, pale yellow with silver highlights, a sign of a high proportion of great Chardonnays. The bubbles are fine and form a delicately creamy and persistent rim of mousse. The nose is fine and fresh. The first mineral aromas quickly become vegetal and then floral, with scents of elderflower mixed with spicy touches of cinnamon. The attack in the mouth is lively and frank, dominated by very fresh citrus notes. It then becomes much broader, round and silky, punctuated by flavours of white peach in syrup. The finish is long, rich, explosive. Prélude 'Grands Crus' is a wine that combines finesse and complexity. The balance it strikes between freshness and aromatic expression is exceptional.
The cuvée Prélude "Grands Crus" is composed of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir that Taittinger has exclusively selected from "grand cru" vineyards classified 100% on the Champagne cru scale. Made from cuvée wines (first-pressing only), this rare blend provides the finesse and structure that a great Champagne needs for a long shelf life.
On the palate, it offers an ideal harmony between the immediate minerality of the Chardonnay and the powerful aromatic expression of the Pinot Noir. Aged for more than five years in the cellar, the cuvée Prélude is distinguished by its remarkable youthfulness and a wealth of flavours.
