Massimo Abbate is a winemaker, born in 1983, born and raised in Castagnole Lanze in the province of Asti. This small town is located close to an imaginary line that divides Monferrato from the Langhe, in the middle of the vineyard landscapes belonging to the Unesco heritage. Son of grape merchants, from an early age he developed a strong passion for wine and vineyards. So he decides to attend the Oenology School of Alba, obtaining his diploma in 2003. To deepen the oenological aspects he worked in the sector as a consultant for ten years, perfecting the production techniques and the sensory analysis of the wines. In 2015 he took over the leadership of the family business, which is spread over 3 different municipalities: Castagnole Lanze, Coazzolo and Neive. 8.5 hectares of vineyards are cultivated for 60% Moscato d'Asti, 20% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Barbera d'Asti and Langhe Nebbiolo. He immediately wanted to put the experience acquired into practice, with the aim of making a part of the grapes produced into wine. Thus, in 2018, the first bottles of Langhe Nebbiolo and Barbera d'Asti Superiore were born, put on the market starting from June 2020, for a total of just over 1,500 bottles (each of which has a progressive number on the label). Production to date has increased, as per the objective, while maintaining a family profile. Massimo's intent is to create products that are a reflection of his personality, as he believes that the success of a wine passes through the relationship that binds terroir, climate and variety with its vigneron.
