Claré JC is a unique wine. It is the reinterpretation of a forgotten Nebbiolo, appreciated in its lightest and freshest form. The vinification protocol is inspired by the notes of G.B. Croce from 1606: the wine is bottled immediately after fermentation, in order to maintain a sweet finish and a beautiful drinking energy. Light ruby red color. Lively aromas of cherry and pomegranate nectar. The bouquet is made even more complex by orange blossom, sweet spices and mineral tones. In the mouth, the Claré JC is vibrant, with red fruits and spicy tones and a thirst-quenching acidity. The tannins are silky and make it an ideal wine to be served at cellar temperature in the warm months, in combination with appetizers, spicy dishes, delicate fried foods and barbecues.
The 2021 Nebbiolo Claré J.C. is a deep, translucent ruby color. It wafts up with a dazzling mix of crushed violets, lavender and blackberries tinged with a hint of sour citrus. This splashes across the palate, coming across as energetic and playful in nature, as tart wild berries are motivated by zest acidity, while leaving a coating of minerals and liquid stone in their wake. The 2021 finishes with a bitter twang and crunchiness, like biting into a raw cranberry, yet also remarkably fresh. The Claré J.C. is produced from younger Nebbiolo vines using about 20% whole-cluster fruit to create a throwback-styled wine, one that emphasizes a lighter, more energetic and slightly off-dry character.
