From green reflections, to straw ones; from the notes of yellow peach and apricot to the delicately floral and citrus ones and therefore of flint typical of maturity, Riesling is a wine in constant evolution. Minerality, harmonious and rigorous palate and a surprisingly fresh and balanced acidity, are the constants on which the beautiful evolution of this Riesling takes place

    VARIETY 100% White Riesling

DESCRIPTION Pioneer of Riesling in Piedmont is Aldo Vaira. Passionate about this variety since his university years, Aldo studies it and begins to graft the first strains in the Langa. Thus was born Pètracine, a wine whose name evokes the root on the stone. A rich body, where the mineral acidity of the rigorous German strains, blends with the volume and the pronounced creaminess of the Alsatian strains. You almost seem to hear the German word Ja merging with the French musical Oui.

VINEYARDS The first vineyard dedicated to Riesling was that of the Fossati, located in the highest part of the Municipality of Barolo and facing the morning sun. The soil, a singular gravel-sandy composition. The second vineyard, facing north-east, is instead located in the region known as Bertone (in the Municipality of Sinio), a lower hill characterized by calcareous and homogeneous soils.

CULTIVATION Vajra has always believed in sustainable agriculture and the natural grassing of vineyards. Irrigation is not used and the thinning is decided based on the vintage.

GRAPE HARVEST AND VINIFICATION The Riesling grape harvest takes place in the first half of September and proceeds on a scaled basis for two to three weeks. The transport, in small boxes, allows the fruit to be preserved intact. The severe selection process of the bunches begins in the vineyard and, with increasing rigor, continues in the cellar. Gentle pressing and a short cold settling precede the start of fermentation which lasts for about 15-20 days. Riesling continues the training in steel barrels and, in the spring following the harvest, bottling takes place.

TASTING NOTES: From green reflections, to straw ones; from the notes of yellow peach and apricot to the delicately floral and citrus ones and therefore of flint typical of maturity, Riesling is a wine in constant evolution. Minerality, harmonious and rigorous palate - almost geometrically precise - and a surprisingly fresh and balanced acidity, are the constants on which the beautiful evolution of this Langa Riesling takes place.
