GRAPE VARIETIES: Pinot Noir SOIL: well drained and limestone AGE OF VINEYARDS: 20 years WINE-MAKING: selective manual harvesting, cold pressing and maceration before fermentation. The must is pressed in the tank twice a day and gently pressed after 2 to 3 weeks. The young wine then matures for one year in used 1000-litre oak barrels.
The Dürnberg wine cellar is located in the traditional wine-growing town of Falkenstein. Viticulture has been documented here since the 12th century and wine with unmistakable aromas and deep spices emerges. The fresh characteristics of the wines are the result of an exceptional terroir. Thanks to the lime-rich soils and a favourable microclimate, the grapes reach ideal ripeness, creating wines with fine aromas, pronounced fruit and vital acidity. Targeted greening favours the formation of humus, life and loosening of the soil, preventing erosion and compaction and favouring fauna. The old vineyards are perfectly healthy, with vines up to 60 years old.
