Dominique Lafon's Mâconnais adventure began in 1999, when he bought the first part of the 26 hectares that now make up the property south of the Côte de Beaune in the area that increasingly offers 'fresh and easy-drinking' wines. Only chardonnay grapes (the village of Chardonnay is within the doc area a few kilometres north of Mâcon bordering Uchizy) are produced by the Domaine for an average production of 180,000 bottles for wines that are the fruit of the experience and style of the eclectic Dominique, who has brought to the Mâconnais that finesse and depth typical of the great Burgundy wines. Fine wines, capable of good ageing, which offer the possibility of tasting a white Burgundy of great quality despite being in the southernmost area of this wine-growing region that is now the focus of worldwide interest for lovers of quality wine. In each wine, the minerality and 'tension' of the individual terroirs is brought out, whose facets are always clearly recognisable and make this Domaine, especially through its Viré-Clessé, the true standard-bearer of the Mâconnais.
