Mentioned by the sources for the first time in the seventeenth century, Lagrein is one of the oldest vines in South Tyrol. Its ripe and full berries give the wine its characteristic intense red.
Grape variety: Lagrein (native vine from South Tyrol)
Production area: Gries.
Altitude: 250 m.
Soil: sandy soil of porphyry origin.
Yield: 100 quintals per hectare.
Vinification: traditional red vinification, in stainless steel containers; careful replacements; maturation and malolactic in large oak barrels for 6 months.
Character of the wine: Red-garnet color.
Scent of wild berries (blackberries, black currants), violets and alpine prunella.
Taste: structured, with soft tannins; persistent.
