Two very young winemakers and a village in the Langhe, Vergne, recently divided between the municipalities of Barolo, La Morra and Narzole. This is where the project of the Azienda Agricola Vaira Francesco starts, a small winemaking reality born from the will of Francesco and Giacomo Vaira, brothers united by a passion for work in the vineyard and by the desire to continue their father's passion, remembering him over twenty years after his disappearance. After some work experiences in important local wineries, the Vaira brothers have gained the awareness of wanting to undertake their own project in the Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto lands that they have been cultivating for the past 10 years. A few plots of vineyard facing south-east and south-west at the same altitude (450 m asl) but divided between three municipalities, of which only the Cru "I Fossati" and the "Vigna del Pensiero" can give rise to DOCG wines . Vineyards that are completely similar in the composition of the soils, mainly calcareous-clayey, which however cannot give life to wines bureaucratically considered of equal value: here is the idea of producing labels that do not fall under any denomination. In 2019 the "Controcorrente" was born from Nebbiolo clone Rosé grapes, in 2020 the "FZ", from Nebbiolo clone Lampia grapes. The philosophy that animates the two brothers is that of making a wine that is the direct expression of the work done in the vineyard: where chemistry is absent and oenology is the accompanying motion of the simplest transformation of grapes into wine. No compromises, just a precise idea and the obsessive pursuit of quality in each of the production phases.
