55% Barbera and 45% Freisa. Grapes from two adjacent vineyards with a laminated fossil Sant’Agata marl soil, made looser by alluvial debris and stones. This wine combines the charisma of both varieties: the nose is sophisticated like Barbera and wild like Freisa, intricate and explicit.
This wine was first bottled in 1970 by Carlo -Carlin Vaira, Aldo's grandfather, from a vineyard planted with Barbera and Freisa. It was a wine able to cheer families and guests with enough pride of the great-grandfather to deserve to be bottled and labeled - a rare dignity for domestic consumption in those years. The farmhouse illustrated on the label is that of our family, where Aldo started in 1972.
