Barbera is the majority vine variety in Piedmont and also cultivated in Cisterna d’Asti. It generally has a generous production, a very pronounced acidity of the grapes and wines, an intense coloring of the skins. On the other hand, it is quite sensitive to rot and gray mold. To overcome this problem and to obtain high quality products, the grapes must come from old vines placed in sunny positions (from south-east to south-west); it is also advisable to limit the quantity through the management of the vineyard and summer thinning.

A vineyard planted in the Bellegardo area in the Municipality of Cisterna d'Asti in 2001, on poor soil with targeted thinning in the ripening phase and a careful selection of grapes during harvest, ensure this wine has authentic characteristics: body, pleasantness, deep ruby red color and complexity. The soil is sandy-clayey with exposure to / south-east. The vineyard is trained Guyot with a density of 5000 vines / hectare.
