"The 2022 Tignanello is such an elegant, poised wine. Brisk acids cut through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. Crushed flowers, mint, cinnamon, rose petal and a kiss of French oak appear later, adding notable brightness. The 2022 is a decidedly mid-weight Tignanello, but all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. Tignanello saw rain episodes at the end of the season, like most properties, but steep, well-draining hillsides were a clear advantage. The blend is 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, essentially the classic proportions here." Antonio Galloni - Vinous
The 2022 vintage in Chianti Classico was characterised by below-average rainfall until the month of August, and by a spring and summer that tended to be warm, with June and July being characterised by temperatures above the area's historical data. The plants in these climatic conditions were able to self-regulate, guaranteeing regular budding and flowering and dealing with the hottest months at their best: at the beginning of veraison they were in an ideal vegetative-productive state. The rainfall and subsequent drop in temperatures in mid-August favoured excellent temperature fluctuations between day and night, allowing ripening to begin at its best. The excellent weather conditions during the autumn months ensured an excellent quality harvest. The harvest took place around mid-September for the Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, and in the first week of October with the Cabernet Sauvignon.
