The Schönleber family has a 250-year tradition in viticulture even if it was only at the end of the sixties that the qualitative turnaround of the company it leads began. To date, the vineyard area is approximately 20 hectares where three quarters of which are planted with riesling while a small part is destined for Pinot Blanc and Pinot Grigio with extremely extraordinary results. The company is led by Werner and Frank Schönleber, assisted by their respective companies wives Hannelore and Anja, who have worked to develop a system of "single vineyard" so that they can enhance the "terroir" to the maximum, above all thanks to the rocky terrain in which the vines are planted. Respecting an internal regulation of the VDP (association of the best German winegrowers) since 1994 the vines planted in riesling are classified by name and among these over 10 hectares are "Grosse Lage", Grand Cru also following a Prussian mapping dated back in 1901. Schönleber is today considered one of the best interpreters in his homeland of Nahe and Germany thanks to fine, elegant and deep wines.
