Domaine Grand Roche is a twenty-three-hectare family business founded in 1987 by Erik Lavalée. The Domaine makes wine exclusively from grapes grown in sustainable agriculture and from its own vineyards in the appellation Saint Bris, Chablis and in the Côtes d'Auxerre. The Côtes d’Auxerre is a region of Burgundy that develops south of the city of Auxerre, around the banks of the River Yonne. The first vineyards appeared in the 14th century and in 1321 Auxerre wines were served at the coronation of Charles VI. In 1787 the region boasted 1827 hectares of vineyards but after the filossera only 200 were replanted. Today little known, Côtes d'Auxerre produces white wines from Chardonnay grapes and red wines from Pinot Noir with an excellent quality / price ratio. The vineyards are located between 120 and 280 meters above sea level, mainly exposed to the south-east and south-west. Among the products of the Domaine there is also the Saint Bris, a semi-unknown appellation that develops around the village of Saint-Bris-Le-Vineux. The AOC dates back to 2003 and is the only appellation of Burgundy that provides for the use of Sauvignon (both Blanc and Gris) instead of the classic Chardonnay. Sauvignon di Saint Bris have the classic aromatic character of Sauvignon Blanc but are lighter and less concentrated than those of the Loire. Ghilardi Selezioni is always careful to provide its customers with the most interesting French and world wines. For this reason, for years we have been importing and distributing, both retail and wholesale, the excellent wines of Domaine de Grand Roche.
