Borgo Magredo

SPILIMBERGO | FRIULI - ITALIA

History

The history of Borgo Magredo began in 1973, when Genagricola acquired a company of over 200 hectares on the Grave del Friuli, in the municipality of Spilimbergo. The agronomists of the company immediately sensed the excellent winemaking potential of this area, and dedicated part of the land to the cultivation of the vine.

We immediately proceeded methodically, establishing a deep and lasting relationship with the Cooperative Nurseries of Rauscedo, to identify the most suitable clones for this type of soil, extremely rich in gravel and stones (the famous "claps" typical of the Grave), and a gradual replanting of the vines began, according to modern logic and capable of enhancing both the vines and the peculiarities of the territory. In 20 years, over 200 hectares of vineyards have been replanted, also testing experimental cultivars for these territories, such as Pinot noir (which later became a great classic) or Moscato rosa.

On the wine front, the Borgo Magredo cellar was equipped with the most refined technologies for winemaking and aging: steel tanks capable of maintaining the desired temperatures during the winemaking phase, pneumatic presses for the soft pressing of the grapes, all the necessary to guarantee excellent production.
