Barolo 2015 - Pio Cesare
A Barolo of classic style, of body and elegance, of structure and harmony, with soft tannins and a right fruit, austere but persuasive. Long life. Barolo is a great wine by itself and should not be diminished in its value with the name of "base" or "generic" only because no vineyard or sub-area is indicated on the label.
VARIETY: 100% NEBBIOLO
VINEYARDS: The vineyards owned by the Pio family in Serralunga d'Alba (Cascina Ornato, La Serra, Briccolina and Lirano), in Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), in La Morra (Roncaglie), in Novello (Ravera) and, from 2015 harvest, in Monforte d'Alba (Mosconi). It has always been produced using grapes from various areas: it has always been the formula followed by the most historic families, to produce a Barolo that represents the expressions of the various great terroirs of the Barolo area.
VINIFICATION: In steel. Maceration on the skins for 25-30 days at rather high temperatures.
AGING: In barrels for about 30 months and a small part in barriques.
