Talking about Village for this Mersault is certainly an understatement, even if Monopole the clos de La Barre is certainly the emblem and manifesto of the finesse and elegance that Chardonnay can achieve in Burgundy. Very rare bottles, difficult to find, but which every wine lover should taste once in their life.
This domaine is inextricably linked to the history of Burgundy, especially after its founder Jules Lafon, in 1923 created the Paulée de Meursault, one of the three essential appointments for wine after the banquet at Clos Vougeot and the auction at the Hospice de Beaune. In 1931 Jules completely gave up his activity as a lawyer dedicating himself only to the vineyard. Jules' nephew, René, will continue the management of the domaine until the arrival of his son Dominique in the company in 1984 who, starting from 1993, begins to work the 13.80 hectares of property entirely on his own to better apply (from 1998 on all vineyards) the rules of biodynamic agriculture (also organic).
All the wines express the character of Dominique Lafon, but above all the deep bond with the terroir of the Côte de Beaune and are an extraordinary example of elegance.
