Brunello di Montalcino "Pian delle Vigne" 2016 - Antinori
The philosophy oriented towards the large barrel, capable of preserving the extraordinary integrity of the Sangiovese fruit and giving the Brunello its characteristic vibrant elegance, finds an extraordinary expression in the Brunello Pian delle Vigne.
The wine has an intense ruby red color. The nose is complex, with notes of ripe red fruit, reminiscent of cherry, well in harmony with the floral scents. The bouquet is completed by sensations of chocolate, tobacco, cloves and both aromatic and balsamic herbs. A Vintage, 2016, capable of expressing great finesse and elegance and giving the wine a good freshness accompanied by soft tannins and an excellent length of taste. Pleasant notes of spices and tobacco return to the finish. The 2016 vintage was characterized by a winter that tended to be little rainy and a mild spring. These climatic conditions favored a slight advance of budding and flowering, recovered starting from setting, which took place regularly. The summer, which tended to be cooler than the 2015 vintage, was characterized by temperatures above the seasonal average, especially during July and August. The slight rainfall during the month of September and the consequent lowering of temperatures, allowed the grapes to complete their maturation in an optimal way, enhancing the freshness of Sangiovese and giving the wine soft and balanced tannins. The harvest for the Brunello di Montalcino took place at the end of September.
