Barbera is the majority vine variety in Piedmont and strongly cultivated in the Langhe. It generally has a generous production, an acidity of the grapes and wines very accentuated, an intense coloration of the skins. Conversely, it is rather sensitive to rot and gray mold. To overcome this problem and to obtain high quality products, the grapes must come from old vines placed in sunny positions (from south-east to south-west); it is also advisable to limit the quantity through vineyard management and summer thinning. An old vineyard in the locality of Ressia in the Municipality of Alba, a rather dense sixth plant, targeted thinning during ripening and a careful selection of the grapes during harvest assure this wine unique characteristics: depth, body, deep ruby red color, full aroma , low acidity and great complexity. The soil is clayey limestone with exposure on / south-east to 220 m. s.l.m. The vineyard is grown Guyot with a density of 5000 plants / hectare. This Barbera d'Alba, vinified in 20 quintals troco-conical vats of wood, is aged for 12 to 18 months in second and third passage oak casks. It is then assembled and stored in steel tanks for 6-12 months; complete its refinement with six months of bottle before being marketed. The alcohol content is between 14.0 and 14.5%.
