Located 35km south of the city of Bordeaux, Chateau Crabitey is one of the stars of the appellation which, in recent years, has had a real renaissance. The twenty-seven hectares of vineyards are planted on a fantastic terroir, mainly consisting of deep gravels, the true essence of the "Graves" appellation. Founded in 1872 by a community of nuns, the property has always enjoyed a good reputation but it was with the arrival of Jean-Ralph de Butler in 1985 that the Chateau made a first leap in quality. Jean-Ralph invests in vineyards, modernizes production processes, plants new vines. In 1999, his son Arnaud de Butler took over the reins of the family business and shifted the focus to work in the vineyard. Plowing, thinning, green harvesting and integrated agriculture become an integral part of the work of Chateau Crabitey and in 2001 Arnaud invests in the construction of a new wine cellar.
