Whole and powerful, rich, full-bodied, a body and a spirit, the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation asserts itself on a firm structure, tannins which play on the velvet, expressing themselves on a very fine grain, without harshness. Pleasant young and to drink on its fruit, it is however and above all a wine for laying down, often for long aging, excellent for learning about vintages.

The wines of Gevrey-Chambertin opt for meat in sauce, but some gourmets do not disdain to serve it with a pike-perch fillet or tuna in red wine sauce. Gevrey comes from the word “goatherds” attesting that the Gauls once raised goats on these hillsides… we now prefer vines!
