The color is bright and intense ruby red, the liveliness makes it particularly pleasant and inviting. The very fine olfactory sensations grow slowly providing first fruity nuances of blackberry and cooked plum and subsequently vinous, fermentation, typical of Barbera, with a just aromatic contribution of the wood.

      Size

Soil: of medium mixture with a small percentage of a type of clay, very similar to bentonite, which makes the soil more spongy, very subject to superficial movements, but which gives the grapes a good tannic structure.

Characteristics: the name Piani, attributed to the area where this vineyard is located, indicates a part of the hill that is less steep than the average, already historically known for the production of quality Barbera. In general, the whole Langhe area is characterized by the production of soft and elegant wines. The particular soil on which this Barbera is planted, however, manages to confer a discrete structural component to a vine rich in color and acidity, but poor in tannins, which makes it an element of recognition.

Technical notes: this wine is produced trying to exalt at best what are the characteristics of the grape: vinosity, complexity and persistence. After a maceration of 15/20 days, depending on the year, in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, it is passed directly into wood. It is aged for about 8/9 months in oak barrels (30/40% in new barriques and the rest in 50 hectolitre barrels), then it is assembled, bottled and left to rest for about 2 months in the bottle before being placed on sale. The low yields, the long maceration and the right amount of wood, give this wine characteristics of longevity, complexity and importance that have nothing to envy to those of the noble Nebbiolo.
