Vincent Girardin

Meursault | Burgundy - France

Vincent Girardin was born in 1961 in Santenay, he is part of a family of winemakers that began in the seventeenth century and represents the eleventh generation. He started alone in 1982 with only 2 hectares of vineyard to which he added some parcels when his father retired from the business and therefore can fully dedicate himself to the vine. The meeting with Veronique was decisive in his life who, in addition to becoming his wife, is an integral part of the management of the domaine. Girardin's philosophy is linked to the territory and therefore the work of the vineyard to allow micro-oxygenation, then manual harvesting to preserve the grapes intact and the use of modern technology only to extract the maximum from the grapes, in order to obtain elegance in the aromas and strength in taste. All its wines stand out for their minerality, especially Corton-Charlemagne, an extraordinary interpreter of the "Terroir" of Burgundy. Great elegance in the Montrachet battery, where the smallest differences in soil are perfectly represented in the different bottles. The Domaine Girardin, managed by Marco Caschera for the commercial and by Eric Germain for the technical area, is today one of the best interpreters of Chardonnay in the Côte d'Or.

Fruity and floral aromas. A fresh and mineral wine.

100% Chardonnay grapes from the Village of Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyards, located at the beginning of the Chassagne hill, are about 50 years old. The wine obtained after alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and aging in barriques for about 18 months, is rich and full, absolutely typical and with great energy.

The main feature of this Chardonnay is certainly its great minerality, by far the most taut and mineral wine of all the whites of the Domaine Girardin. Aged for 14/15 months in barrique, it does not however lose its typical fatness and complexity.
